Window Animations

You are free to animate onto as many windows on Marlborough House as you like – you can have animations happening on all of the windows at the same time, have animations playing sequentially across the windows, or simply choose to concentrate on only one window.

Step 1 –

Download the PDF templates from HERE. There are specific templates that are just for the windows. The ideal template to use is “House 6” where the windows are represented in white & the black areas are not for animating on.

If you decide to use one of the other templates, the areas in black represent the window positions & the red area is the rendered building front.

If you are just working on the window animations, it is important that you do not animate over the window area – otherwise your animation will get cropped.

Step 2 –

Load your PDF into a piece of image editing software – Photoshop will open up PDF files. Make sure that it opens up at 1592px (w) x 768px (h) otherwise you will end up animating to the wrong size!

Step 3 –

You can now save the PDF templates out as a JPEG, TIF or any other image file that your animation software will recognise.

Step 4 –

Now you can use the template to make sure your animations will fit neatly into the window areas. If you are using a piece of software like Adobe After Effects, make sure that your Composition settings are set to Square Pixels and that your Composition size is 1592px (w) x 768px (h). If you are using Adobe Flash to create your animation, likewise make sure that your Document dimensions are set to 1592px (w) x 768px (h) & you can load the template onto a new layer & mark it as being a template.

Step 5 –

Animate!

Step 6 –

PLEASE NOTE – When you have completed your animation – please make sure that the template is NOT visible in your final output/render! Submissions with the template showing will be sent back to be re-done!

Step 7 – Important!

When you are outputting your final animation – please ensure that you include an Alpha Channel with your animation if possible. On your Alpha Channel, where the window areas are, it will be white (opaque) & where the building front is, it will be black (transparent).

For example –

If you are unable to output your final film with Alpha Channels, please submit your final animation with a black background where the building layer is.

Please check the Tech Specs list for the final video output settings. If anything else is submitted, we may be in touch to ask you to re-output the film in the correct format.

And make sure that your final film is set to 1592px (w) x 768px (h).

Step 8 –

Submitting your final work – email us at info@bangdreammachine.com & we’ll invite you to upload your work to our DropBox folder.
